Teachers and students can both send and receive messages to one another through the grade book and portal.
The Speech Bubble Icon next to the gradebook icon indicates that you have an unread message from a student.
From inside the gradebook, the student's assignment cell will be highlighted in orange indicating there is a message present. *Note: the cell will only be highlighted in orange if you have the "student work completion status" indicator turned on. To turn this on click the magnifying class on your gradebook toolbar until it is highlighted in orange.
Right click on the orange cell and select "Edit Grade Info" to view and send messages to Students via their student portal.
Posting Grades
To grade an assignment locate the cell for the particular student & assignment then type in the desired grade value. This can be a percentage, letter grade, O/S/N, or numeric mark depending on how you have formatted your allowed grade marks in the gradebook/class settings.
Make sure to click the SAVE (floppy disk) icon to save your progress before closing the gradebook!
