Q: What is the membership category code used for homeless program SPRG records?

A: The membership category code used is always a 1 (Eligibility) per the CALPADS data guide:


Q: How is a student’s homeless program eligibility determined by PLSIS?

A: A student is considered eligible if their address history (Student Registration tab) contains an entry with a residence category matching one of the following codes: 100, 110, 120, 130.


Q: How is the homeless program eligibility start date determined by PLSIS for SPRG records?

A: PLSIS collapses a student’s address history if there are consecutive records with homeless codes set as the primary residence category and uses the earliest address record effective date that falls within a reporting period as the eligibility start date.


Q: How do exit codes affect a student’s homeless program record?

A: The following rollover exit codes are collapsed by PLSIS when processing enrollment records: E490, E155, E150, E450.  This means that two or more consecutive enrollment records that are separated by one of these exit codes are treated as one continuous enrollment.  


Insofar as how this relates to the homeless program record, if a student’s address record in PLSIS has no effective date (shows as Beginning of records in the address history) then the homeless eligibility start date will use the student’s earliest continuous enrollment record start date that falls within the reporting period of the extract.
