Mealtime Bridge Setup

Setup for the Mealtime Export bridge from School Pathways

Mealtime export has the ablity to send student data to Meal Time from School Pathways. There are basic policies to set up with your School Pathways contact, and there are some policies that you the school can control and configure.

Getting Started

  • Interested in the Mealtime automated export? Reach out to your School Pathways contact to get started!
  • What is your setup in School Pathways? Are your students Independent Study or are you set up with CMS classes with a designated Homeroom class?
    • Mealtime can send over "IS" (Independent Study) as the homeroom, or it can send the Room Number associated with the designated Homeroom CMS Class
    • There is a policy to include "IS" (Independent Study). It will first look for any correctly configured Homerooms for students, then fall back to "IS" when none found for the student

Homeroom Structure (Most Common)

  • Create CMS Classes: use this guide here
  • Designate "Homeroom" classes. Each student needs to be in a Homeroom class with a Room Number: Use this guide here for creating Room Numbers and associating them with the classes

Hybrid setup: Mix of Homeroom and IS

This works best where a school (or schools in the instance of the Mealtime export running out of a District Oversight for multiple scopes), has both Independent Study AND Homeroom students.

  • Students who do NOT have a Homeroom designated will have "IS" go over for their homeroom class in the export file
  • Students who are in a Homeroom CMS class will go over with the room number (if set correctly) in the export file
  • For students who have been given an IS Staff as well as a homeroom association, it will send the Homeroom by default.

Policies:

Once the bridge is enabled, there are some policies that affect which data is sending to Meal Time daily

Navigation: Reports > Exports > Mealtime: Options Cogwheel > Page Policies

  • Export ID Type: This is set by School Pathways (customers cannot see any policies in yellow) but you can request which ID type you would like to send for students
    • Local ID: unique only in the scope. For customers with multiple scopes, this number may not be unique and will often be pre-pended by the scope ID_local ID
    • Number: For students, this is the Legacy ID if applicable
    • State ID: SSID assigned to the student. Students will be excluded from the files until this number is associated with the student in the SIS
    • District ID: Applies to customers with multiple scopes. This number is unique to the student and follows them between scopes. Often the preferred ID for customers with multiple scopes.
  • Export IS Records too: This policy can be updated by the customer and affects how students are reported in the export. It will send over "IS" for the homeroom for students who are Independent Study. If you have a mix of Classroom based with Homerooms and IS students, this is a great policy to use.
    • If you ONLY want to see homeroom, then leave this policy set to No
  • Include Pre-Enroll Students?: Set to yes, this will allow pre-enroll students in the files (if a pre-enroll is current). If not, it will only sent students who are actively in an IS/Classroom Based enrollment record (ADA)
