PLS: Definitions of Commonly Used Terms

Accept: In Archive Reports, a staff member will need to accept documents, this will allow the document to go to the Zip file for Audit Purposes

Activity Log: This log pulls in activity from Synchronous Instruction, Live Interaction, Learning Logs ETC, it keeps track of any non bridge activity the student is engaged in.

Archive: In School Pathways Archive means to electronically sign a document

Assignment Work Record: (AWR) This report pulls in any work that has been completed in the students LMS that is bridged with School Pathways as well as other areas in the system.  Depending on what your school is using will determine where this data comes from. 

Attendance Report: In the PLS School Pathways Portal, attendance is suggested by the students activity but confirmed and saved by the teacher of record at the end of each Learning Period (LP)

Engagement Log: This log keeps track of any Synchronous Instruction and Live interaction the student was engaged in. Teachers can take the attendance in the Log, or on the Engagement Calendar.  if using the zoom bridge, this attendance will auto populate from the bridge nightly.  

Engagement Calendar: This is a place where teachers/staff can create their live interaction and or synchronous events.

Learning Log: School Pathways provides various types of logs that schools can utilize, allowing students to track their daily activities. These logs are student-driven and enable students to record their activities, even if they do not have a specific assignment due. For example, if a student reads a few chapters, they can log this activity in these logs to keep track of their progress.

Learning Period: (LP) Also known as Attendance Period or School Month. Used for Independent Study Compliance as well as report and Grade Book filtering. IS Learning Periods are typically 4 weeks long beginning on Monday and ending on Friday.

Live Interaction: Live interaction means interaction between the student and classified or certificated staff, and. may include peers, provided for the purpose of maintaining school connectedness, including, but not limited to, wellness checks, progress monitoring, provision of services, and instruction.

Master Agreements:(MAs) A master agreement is a document that outlines the terms and conditions of an agreement between two or more parties.

Parent Driven: Parents will fill out forms and or documents

Parent Portal: A platform offered by School Pathways that allows parents to access student information.

Personalized Learning System (PLS): Personalized learning is an educational approach that aims to customize learning for each student's strengths, needs, skills, and interests. Each student gets a learning plan that's based on what they know and how they learn best. School pathways offers a software to help school track all necessary documents and student information for audit purposes. 

Reporting Period: Also known as Grading Period or Report Card Term. Examples: Semesters, Quarters, Trimesters

Student Dashboard: This feature in School Pathways allows teachers and staff to easily access basic information about students.

Student Portal: A designated area for students to access their learning logs, assignments, LMS, and submit work samples.

Student Driven: Students are expected to fill out and complete the required documents.

Synchronous Instruction: Refers to instructors and students gathering at the same time and (virtual or physical) place and interacting in “real-time”. Asynchronous learning refers to students accessing materials at their own pace and interacting with each other over longer periods.

Teacher Driven: teachers will be responsible for completing the documents

Tiered Reengagement: Tiered re-engagement strategies should be deployed for students who are (1) not generating attendance for more than 10 percent of instructional time over four weeks, (2) not participating in synchronous instructional offerings for more than 50 percent of the scheduled times for such instruction in a school month

Trigger Emails: Trigger Emails are customizable email templates within School Pathways that school administrators can utilize to send invitations to staff, students, and parents to have access to the School Pathways System.

Work Samples: Work completed by students to represent work they completed in different subject areas

Work Summary Report: (WSR) This report will show work completed by students, including grades.
