Self-Serve and Customizable Master Agreements - FAQs

Q: If we haven’t created a customized master agreement template, will the customized master agreement template feature affect our current templates?

A: Your current template will still work until you create a customized template and change the status from draft to active. If you make a customized template active it will become your new template. If you then change the status of your customized template back to draft your original template will take over again.

Q: Is there a limit to the amount of text in a section on the customized master agreement template? A: There is no limit to the amount of text.

Q: Are we able to skip lines if we want to write each board policy as a new paragraph?

A: Yes, you can add lines within a section. You can also add new paragraphs with their own title.

Q: Can you have two master agreements active at the same time?

A: You cannot have two master agreements active at the same time. However, you can put a master agreement in draft mode and activate a second master agreement if you need to switch to a summer session and then back to a regular school year session.

Q: Can we copy and paste text into the master agreement template?

A: Yes, you can paste text into any of the sections. If you have wording in a PDF that you want to copy, it might be easiest to open the PDF with Microsoft Word so the text is easy to copy and paste.

Q: Will changes to laws in the future be updated in the text of my master agreement?

A: The text will not be updated automatically. You will need to update the sections of your master agreements as laws are changed.

Q: If we choose to keep the template that School Pathways has set up will it be updated as laws are added?

A: No. There isn’t a way for us to update all of the different school master agreements with changes to the laws. You now have the ability to make changes to your master agreements with this customized master agreements templates feature.

Q: Do we need to have master agreement changes approved by our legal department?

A: Yes, School Pathways suggests that you send any changes to your master agreement to your legal department.

Q: Can we have different master agreements for different learning centers within a school?

A: Yes. If you are a school that uses learning center master agreements you can go into the Learning Management section for your school and edit all “Site Master Agreement Settings” for each learning center you have.

Click on your Learning Center located in the blue menu at the top of your page. Some schools might call this tab Learning Centers, Programs or Classes, depending on how your school has set them up.
Click on a learning center title to expand management edit options
Click Management
Scroll down to the Management section
Click Edit Site Master Agreement Settings and make the changes needed

To see if you have learning center master agreement settings:

Click on Edit Basic Site Settings
Look at the checkbox next to “Allow overriding School Default Settings with Site Default Settings for Master Agreements”

If the box is checked the site master agreement default settings will override the school master agreement default settings.
If the box is unchecked the site default master agreement settings will not override your school default settings.

Q: If we are updating the school default master agreement should we uncheck “Allow overriding School Default Settings with Site Default Settings for Master Agreements”?

A: Only if you are not allowing any Learning Center master agreement settings to override your school default settings. Otherwise you can leave the box checked for “Allow overriding School Default Settings with Site Default Settings for Master Agreements”.

But, you will have to go into each learning center and update them because each learning center may have different default locations or resource areas. So you will need to make sure that each learning center is updated correctly.

Q: Can you name the templates to differentiate them?

A: Currently the different templates are labeled with a version number.
