Setting Default Dates for PLS Classes
A Page Policy has been added, allowing administrators to define the default Enter and Exit Dates for PLS template classes on the Manual Class Registration page.

Default Start Date Options
-
"Enrollment Start Date" Behavior
-
Overview of Page Policy
The Page Policy is located in Options > Page Policies > lc/courses/manualreg.php under the label: “Which Dates should PLS Classes default to?”. This setting allows users to specify default start and exit dates for PLS template classes when manually registering students in classes.
Configuration Options
Default Start Date Options
Administrators can choose from the following options for the default start date:
-
PLS Template Class Start Date: Uses the start date specified in the PLS template.
-
Enrollment Start Date (students): Sets the start date to the student’s enrollment start date.
-
Today’s Date: Sets the start date to the current date.
"Enrollment Start Date" Behavior
When the "Enrollment Start Date" option is selected, the system will apply the student's enrollment start date as the "Enter Date" for the PLS Template class. This is particularly useful when the PLS Template class start date precedes the student's enrollment date, ensuring appropriate alignment.
Steps to Configure Default Dates
-
Navigate to Options > Page Policies.
-
Select lc/courses/manualreg.php.
-
Locate the policy: “Which Dates should PLS Classes default to?”.
-
Choose your preferred default date option from the dropdown menu:
-
PLS Template Class Start Date
-
Enrollment Start Date (students)
-
Today’s Date
-
-
Save the changes.
Example Scenarios
-
Scenario: Aligning Start Dates with Enrollment Dates
-
A student enrolls in the school on January 5th, but the PLS Template class starts on January 1st.
-
If "Enrollment Start Date" is selected, the system sets the class "Enter Date" to January 5th, aligning with the student's enrollment.
-
-
Scenario: Using Today’s Date
-
On March 10th, a student is manually registered, but the administrator processes the registration on March 15th, selecting "Today’s Date" as the default option.
-
The system sets the "Enter Date" for the class to March 15th.
-
Additional Notes
-
The Exit Date for PLS template classes is not impacted by this policy and must be managed separately.
-
Ensure appropriate training is provided to staff to utilize this feature effectively.
-
Contact your system administrator if you have questions about configuring or using this policy.
